2020 has been a rollercoaster of a year for the entire planet. With the many low-blows suffered and most of us having our expectations and new year resolutions taken from us early on Samsung have been hinting at a promising 2021 to come.

The President of Mobile Communications TM Roh left a few lengthy ideas about the development of some of their trail-blazing technology. And, we could be in for sooner than we think. Perhaps as early as January, as Andy Boxhall has pointed out in his write-up for digitaltrends.

In a section of the news release entitled The Samsung Promise, Roh writes:

“True to our heritage of staying ahead of the curve with trailblazing mobile tech, we’ll be expanding our portfolio of foldables, so this groundbreaking category is more accessible to everyone. And while we’re already known for our revolutionary cameras, we’ll never stop trying to outdo ourselves — so be on the lookout for super-intelligent, pro-grade camera and video capabilities in 2021. We’ve also been paying attention to people’s favorite aspects of the Galaxy Note experience and are excited to add some of its most well-loved features to other devices in our lineup.”

Let’s talk about it in detail and see how it fits in with some of the more juicy Samsung rumors circulating recently. Even though the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is one of the best foldable smartphones on the market, it’s still quite a pricey purchase. As to Roh, there is a cheaper Galaxy Fold device coming soon. As for now, the original Galaxy Z Flip is Samsung’s cheapest foldable phone costs $1,099, while the 5G version is priced at $1,450. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is sold at $1,999, and hopefully, it’s the full-size foldable which will get a much-needed price reduction.

Samsung Rumors

Another rumor that Roh’s words seem to confirm is about S Pen stylus support that Samsung may add to other Galaxy phones outside of the Note series. Because Note phone owners love this feature Samsung has said they may add S Pen to the Galaxy S21, future foldable phones, or even some of the higher-end A Series phones.

Up until now, the company form Note series entire identity around the stylus support. It was one of the only things that separated it from the S Series. So the step would be a bold move and is unexpected, to say the least. However, Roh has been purposefully equivocal when discussing things. So it still remains to be seen as to whether the phones will be sold with a stylus or just be entitled to the support.

For now, we will have to eagerly wait and see but it’s an exciting way to end the year, speculating.

It didn’t come as a surprise that Samsung will improve its cameras once again next year. As for now, the Note 20 Ultra already has a much better camera than the very similar Galaxy S20 Ultra. As to the rumors circulating the Galaxy S21 will come with a quad-camera setup and a 10x zoom feature. Moreover, Samsung may also be working on a massive 600-megapixel camera, which would stick out the back of the phone by 22mm.

As to Roh, Samsung will share more at the very beginning of 2021st, in January. He hints the Galaxy S21 series may come out in the first month of the new year, rather than late February, because the latest S Series hardware has done in previous years. Another rumor’s suggesting that Samsung’s Unpacked event will take place in mid-January, but it’s not confirmed yet.

The hopes are high for 2021 as in 2020 Samsung has impressed with the Galaxy Z Fold 2 down to the Galaxy S20 FE. We’re looking forward to seeing what it has planned for the next year.
