You were not ready for that and we too: “Baby Shark” view counter passed over the number 7.043 billion views. That means I will suffer from constantly repeating “doo doo doo doo” in my head while my sister is enjoying the video for the millionth time in a row. The video with amiable sharks has overtaken a previous king of YouTube “Despacito” which has been with a crown for almost three years. I will not be surprised if I see a violinist playing a “Baby Shark”.

Sean Hollister, senior news editor from The Verge, notices that he checked in “Baby Shark” video last April and it didn’t give a hope to overrate the Despacito. 2.5 billion versus 7.04 billion views is like putting a kid against Usain Bolt. But the kid grew up. Check these creators whom “Baby Shark” left behind it back:

  • (#3) Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” gained less than a billion views to 5.05B
  • (#4) Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” went from 4 billion to 4.8B
  • (#7) “Uptown Funk” only went from 3.5B to 3.99B
  • (#8) Psy’s “Gangnam Style” went from 3.3B to 3.8B

Sean hid number five and six most-viewed YouTube videos and I will not change what he did on purpose. Thank you, Sean. However, Inwrite their names here to kill your curiosity: #5 and #6 videos are “Masha and the Bear” with 4.4 billion and “Johny Johny Yes Papa” has 4.15 billion. You can check this Vox’s report if you are ready enough.

According to the graph “Baby Shark” hasn’t even got to the top of the imaginary peak.

It is interesting that “Baby Shark” got to the top of YouTube without a meme boost, but the time will show.
