March is the month full of releases

A great swathe of industries, such as travel and food and beverage, have ground to a halt, paralyzed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. People are forced to stay in their houses in order to reduce the transmission of the virus. However, the ban on public events can’t stop the gaming industry *happy gamer noises* and during March we compelled to open our wallets wider because the list of the games coming down the line is very hot.

Animal Crossing: New Horizon is the first game on our list. It’s a Nintendo exclusive release on the Switch, and came out on Friday, March 20. Perhaps history dictates that in these tough days, people need something cute and gentle and here it is. According to gamesindustry.biz, Animal Crossing proudly occupies the top position in the list of the most sold games for the previous week.

STAYHOMEANDPLAY:

Animal Crossing is leading the UK sales league, and it’s not a fluke. The game is a ray of sunshine that we need to entertain ourselves while we are in captivity of circumstance – thank you coronavirus. The new iteration has absorbed all features from the canon of previous Animal Crossing games and has added something new. Create your island, become an entrepreneur for animals, and take selfies in the museum with your friends. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons you can form hills, cliffs, land bridges, waterfalls, lakes, miniature islands, and rivers with ease. Or you can show off your skills in landscape design and add a link on your island into your resume.

New Horizon is a game about network possibilities and has the calmness we are in need of. Yeah, the plot of the game is not the fastest one but it’s not about unpredictable twists and screamers from the corner.

Doom Eternal is a reboot of the beloved classical Doom and a sequel of Doom from 2016. A simulator of a meat grinder where you don’t actually need to take aim because your task is to shoot, cut, and rip everything that moves. Doom Eternal takes a seat in second place of the UK charts after Animal Crossing. Perhaps that’s why we can observe a raft of crossover memes with Doom and animals from New Horizon.

STAYHOMEANDPLAY:

Why should you play Doom Eternal? The answer is quite easy, you don’t have to think while playing the game. Just like Animal Crossing, it’s a game for relaxation, but you’re also sitting on spikes and everything around wants to kill you. The plot of Doom lands on an Earth where humanity is in an even more miserable situation than now, on Mars. Demons are chasing those who had the fortune to survive, while the “Doom Guy” is chasing to tear them up. You’ll fit into the role of the person who is a savior of all human beings.

Half-Life: Alyx is the long-awaited chapter of the well-known series Half-Life. The overall story is a prequel and reproduces the adventures of a girl named Alyx and her father, who is a scientist. You probably remember them from Half-Life 2. The first and second parts of the game have turned the vision of the design upside down and rightfully deserves a cumulative score of 96 out of 100 on Metacritic reviews. The new part is going to chase its predecessors and be on the top list.

STAYHOMEANDPLAY:

First of all, Half-Life: Alyx it is not a standard PC or console video game. The game is fully VR, but it’s not your average virtual reality, low-quality game. The brightest example of digitalization in this game is the table with several pens on it; you can interact with them and the window above the table and draw whatever you like. Half-Life: Alyx implemented the potential of VR like a basketball coach realizing the potential of their middle-school team. According to IGN, Valve has established a new standard in details, interactions, and game design. The game’s compatible with HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality, and Valve Index. It might be a challenge to try this game out, but the same Metacritic score shows that it is fully worth it.

Call of Duty: Warzone isn’t a continuation of Black Ops or Modern Warfare, or even the classical part covering World War II. Rather, it’s a novel take on CoD and a huge upgrade for the battle royale genre.I thought that the trend of battle royales had run its course, but here we are; another interpretation of the online mass shooting. I can’t say that it is wrong as the creators of PUBG have launched an old, beloved, PVP arena but from another angle.

STAYHOMEANDPLAY:

To start with, CoD: Warzone is absolutely free, I didn’t take into account that there’s a lot of donated stuff. The game is dynamic and causes a feeling of paranoia because you have to pay attention to every bush around you. The game designers have tried to provide gamers with depth immersion into the action of the battle zone, where the task is to survive, intertwined tightly with a side mission that you can find during short dashes on the map. You can participate in the royale battles from your PC, Xbox, and PS4.

Nioh 2 is another Souls-like game that demands that you spend several hours just trying to figure out what the hell is going on. I should mention that it is an absolute triumph when somebody is trying to copy your style. We should also express our gratitude to the Dark Souls designers since it was them that launched a completely different direction of game design and have earned a lot of followers, such as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, The Surge, and Nioh. Nioh 2 is a successful offspring of the first installment with the possibility to customize your character and a propensity to die 346,943 times at the hand of the damn Medusa beta-version.

STAYHOMEANDPLAY:

Nioh 2 is not the worst interpretation of the Souls-style genre, and it’s maybe one of the best at the moment. It’s very tough to play this game, your fingers may inadvertently become entangled in a maze of buttons when trying to choose the right fighting technique to overcome any particular mob. The game sets a fire inside of you and burns with the desire to prove that you can handle it. Be ready for a new challenge, Nioh 2 is solid as a rock and it will stand as still as a rock.
