We like rumors very much because people demonstrate a particular interest in a randomly popular thing… Most commonly, the community that surrounds something or somebody big and significant drench it with extra attention. Microsoft is a big boy company and they can barely keep up with rejecting all the rumors about a second next-gen console, codenamed “Lockhart”.

Curious people distribute gossip faster than the Xbox Series X download screen. And it all started with a leaked Microsoft document, posted on Twitter, with interesting hints that “Project Scarlett” will have several consoles and “Lockhart” is one of them. Project Scarlett – I like the name – was previously the code name for the Xbox Series X when the first trailer was revealed at the E3 2019 event.
According to the leaked documents and The Verge’s article, “Lockhart mode is part of the Xbox Series X developer kit. The devkit, codenamed Dante, allows game developers to enable a special Lockhart mode.” The idea was to create more affordable specs for developers to test their games on. The possible parameters are, “7.5GB of usable RAM, a slightly underclocked CPU speed, and around 4 teraflops of GPU performance.”A Eurogamer report states that Microsoft had previously planned to unveil its budget version of the next-gen “Lockhart” console in June. But now, Microsoft has a plan to conduct this event in August. Also, Eurogamer noted that the new console will be an offspring of the Xbox One S, with a slightly different name; Xbox Series S. The name can be explained by Microsoft’s outstanding move to trademark the “Xbox Series” branding, which leads to the multiple name derivatives.
