Oppo has conducted its annual “Inno Day”, where the company demonstrates the upcoming products and shares its ideas for the future. This year, Oppo demonstrated its alternative vision for the smartphone of the future and it’s a phone with a “rolling” screen. In addition, the company has shown off a new set of AR glasses.

The name of the future phone is the Oppo X 2021, and the name hints that the release will be next year. It’s a brand-new vision on folding, rolling, sliding, and every kind of smartphone. The Oppo X 2021 has got an OLED 6.7-inch display in a standard position. The expansion gives the opportunity to enlarge the phone to a tablet-size with a 7.4-inch panel depending on the situation.

To develop this novelty, Oppo registered 122 patents which include a new powertrain, two engines, the rolling mechanism, and the structural plate. Look at the gif to see how it works:

The era of strange-looking smartphones is gaining on us. Recently we’ve had a chance to look at the LG Wing with a sliding main screen. Though you can see that the company has decided to play with a folding screen. It’s a good choice of company that has access to a hugely advanced supply chain. Also, The Verge, in its article, refreshes our memories that Oppo has already got experience constructing phones with advanced designs. Maybe, the company can make a thing out of its new rolling phone.

Oppo AR Glass is the other new product for the company. According to Oppo’s remarks, this model is 75 percent lighter than its predecessor. AR Glasses have got two birdbath-type optics with 0.71-inch OLED panels.
