As a result, we’re witnessing a range of innovations within their own, informal category – medical gadgets designed to battle the coronavirus pandemic. Some of them have come from garage inventors, whereas others have been innovated by Fortune 500 companies. However, all are united under one premise – to uphold public health and safety.

The Killer 100 Blue Ray is a lightweight disinfection gadget that’s great for disinfecting surfaces, food, and people in general. This disinfection gadget operates on 1.3 KW power, has a spraying capacity of 22ml per minute, and it needs at least one minute of preheating before use. If the Killer 100 Blue Ray is used on human skin, it’s necessary to apply the spray from approximately one meter, or three feet, away. The disinfectant needs to be prescribed by a physician, pharmacists, or someone with a medical background. In no circumstances should the bottle be filled with a flammable liquid.

Tended is a UK based tech company that has introduced a line of social distancing gadgets. Their smart wrist strap lets you know when you’re about to come too close to your co-workers. Whenever someone comes as close as two meters, an alarm sounds off. As a result, all employees that wear this gadget can keep their distance while doing their job safely. Many companies from the logistics, construction, and manufacturing sectors are using this technology. 

In regards to privacy and snooping, this app doesn’t use any personal data or disclose whether you’ve been ill lately or not.

Doors are everywhere you go; at home, at work, in the hospital, in shopping malls, and so on. The common denominator for most doors is that they have a door handle that you need to grab to open the door. Nobody gave too much thought to that, and why should they? Then came the coronavirus, and suddenly that became a big deal as we learned that the coronavirus stays alive on objects such as door handles for hours at a time. 

Another UK based company saw this problem and figured out an ingenious 3D-printed gadget that helps people open a door without grabbing the handle. By simply attaching the two 3D-printed pieces onto each other and conveniently placing the door handle between them, you get a gadget that allows you to open the door without touching the handle with your hand. Plus, the design can be easily adjusted to fit other door handles, can be cheaply 3D-printed, and doesn’t require using drills or removing the handle.

It didn’t take long for someone to invent a Smart Mask. Donut Robotics is the Japanese company behind the Smart Mask. Their Smart Mask is connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth and can transmit voice commands in eight different languages. Smart mask users can make calls, transcribe speech, send messages, and perform many other tasks.

The thing that makes the mask so efficient is its Viruferrin protein compound embedded in it. The Viruferrin protein acts as an antibody against the coronavirus and common cold, influenza, MERS, SARS, and other viruses.

Then, there is their augmented reality visor that comes with facial recognition tech. With the help of facial recognition technology, it’s possible to instantly receive information such as a person’s full name, as well as their medical history. According to the company, they have sold well over 1,000 smart helmets to buyers from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

A Danish company called UDV Robots is responsible for making the sterilizing robot. 

The EDV robot uses concentrated UV-C ultraviolet light to destroy bacteria, viruses, and other dangerous microbes. Primarily, these sterilizing robots are used in hospitals to sanitize the rooms without using any chemicals.
