Magic is just sleight of hand, no lying. A magician will never reveal his secrets, but he’ll always keep his audience hungry for more. Microsoft are following the same pattern, having previously announced their new project the Xbox Scarlet. I am in love with that name.
Microsoft officially unveiled the next-generation Xbox console at the Game Awards yesterday, and the new, official name is now Xbox Series X. Scarlet was better. But that’s not the point.
In the new trailer, we are given the appearance of the console itself. The new Xbox will look like a small tower, with a grid at the top, with the task probably being to help with cooling. We can’t ignore the fact that the controller has been updated too. The shape has slightly changed in size, most likely the ergonomics have been improved for better comfort. Plus, there’s a new Share button added, which helps making a screenshot easier and faster.
In the trailer about project Scarlet, it was hinted at that a new console would be created so that we could view the gaming experience from a new angle. “More immersion, more exploration, more detail” is what we have been told to expect from the next-generation console.
The base of Xbox Series X will become a powerful, customized processor, co-created with AMD and based on Zen 2 and RDNA architecture. The next-level gameplay will be accompanied by the technology of Variable Rate Shading (VRS) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM). Do not forget about the 8K trend, which is gaining traction in the entertainment industry. The Xbox Series X will support 8K content, processing at 120 fps. A new trailer for the game Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is the perfect example to show off the capability of the new console.
This information is more than enough to draw a conclusion, but it is nowhere near enough to conclude the fact that it is the fastest console ever. Microsoft does not reveal its full hand on all the features of the new Xbox, but they confidently say that the new console will be the most powerful on the market.
Now, we have more tedious waiting; that’s all we can do for today. You should stock up on popcorn, because the great battle of two titans is coming.
