Borderlands 3 clever little ruse has made things a little easier for scientific research. Gearbox has revealed additional material for Borderlands 3 called “Borderlands Science”. In turn, Forbes wrote in their article that such a cool idea should help scientists in real life to map the human gut microbiome through a minigame.
It’s a mini-game for gamers that doubles as scissors for scientists, allowing them to cut out a pile of work that demands a load of time. Gearbox Software, in collaboration with McGill University, MMOS, and The Microsetta Initiative at UC San Diego School of Medicine, has created an integrated game that treats a player with a reward for successfully mapping microbes. The DNA of each microbe is encoded as a string of bricks of four different shapes and colors. Your task as a player is to connect the colored shapes to help scientists establish the similarity between each microbe.
